Project: Thermal bath of Vals | Location: Vals, Graubünden, Switzerland |
Architect: Peter Zumthor | Building completion: 1996
The Therme Vals, located in Switzerland, 1200m above sea level dug deep into a mountain, is a masterpiece which has been declared a historic monument.
Designed by architect Peter Zumthor, Therme Vals is a stunning landmark built from 60,000 stone slabs of Valser quartzite in different shades of grey. The combinations of light and shade, open and enclosed spaces and linear elements make for a highly sensuous and restorative experience.
