Things we love: Kids rooms
A child’s room can be one of the most challenging rooms in the house to redo. However, with some creativity, anyone can decorate their kid’s room. Pick one item or color that will be the main focus of the room and make your decorating plans around that. Here are some of our favorite kid’s room, check out more on my pinterest board here.
architecture: st. leon house by saota
St Leon 10 is another dream home designed by Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects (SAOTA), a Cape Town-based architectural practice. Completed in 2006, this two-storey contemporary residence was designed for a family with two young children who wanted a house which simultaneously created spaces for casual intimate family occasions or large get-togethers. The contemporary South African property is organised in a linear manner with all rooms facing the sea. The rear of the property offers privacy with no openings other than the glazed double volume entrance space. This space is screened with a steel framed timber screen and access off the street is through heavy timber gates.
interiors: westbourne grove church conversion
London-based studio DOS Architects converted in 2008 the top two floors of the Westbourne Grove Church, a 1853 Baptist chapel located in London’s Notting Hill. I don’t know if I could live in church conversion but what I love about it, it’s a loft-like residence with an open floor plan and high ceilings that offers both comfort and privacy for its owners.
This new place embellished by the craftsmanship of the architects, mixes old with new, reuniting state of the art technology, fine finishes and architectural details. Even though the modern concept dominates some of the traditional elements have been kept, such as the arched windows and the gothic elements.
architecture: brighton escape, australia
Australian interior design practice G.A.B.B.E have completed the renovation of the Brighton Escape project which has captured my eye today. The expansive, serene and textured luxury family home with beautiful sunken living room. According to the interior designers: “A contemporary design with resounding vibrations to sooth the urban family. “Like a seashell carrying the sound of the ocean, or a mirror reflecting sunlight, this space was specifically fashioned to capture and exude the warmth of the environment which surrounds it.

interiors: megan hess home
Megan Hass Melbourne’s fashion illustrator shares her home with her husband, architect Craig Yelland and their two children. Their penthouse is located on the roof of an 18th century church. The renovation saw the exterior preserved with the interior gutted, allowing Megan and Craig to start from skratch. I love how she kept the base neutral which means you can completly change the mood with art and furnishings. Stay tuned as we peek inside her wardrobe, which she says is her favorite room in the house ‘It’s my happy place’. Check out her illustrations we blogged about in our yesterday’s post here.
