It is coming up to 4 years since we last went to Europe & UK I can’t believe how time flies. Therefore, today I am dreaming of another holiday, escape to London. Located in a sought after region of London, at the southern tip of Covent Garden in London’s art, culture and design district, the ME London 5 star hotel surprises due to an original modern design. The contemporary accommodation unit was developed by Foster + Partners and features 157 guest rooms including 16 suites. I think a lot of us may shy away from grey, associating it with being dull, however, it is a colour that is far from dull if the correct tones and accents are chosen correctly as can be seen in the collages I have put together below. What is important is the “tone” of grey we choose for our interiors. The lightest tone of grey on walls still allows a feeling of spaciousness and can brighten a dark room, dark grey on a wall, however, may become oppressive. If dark grey is used on one wall alone, for example behind a bed, it can evoke a wonderful feeling of drama and romance. More grey inspiration in yesterday’s post.

When you have a small apartment, you feel that the small size is problematic and complicated enough and you try to avoid overthinking things when decorating the place. Sometimes a great way of maintaining a clean and simple décor in a small apartment is to keep the color palette as restraint as possible.
A black and white combo is a classical, popular and always great choice. When you only reduce the décor to only two colors everything becomes simpler and clearer. It’s easier to imagine how everything will look like in advance when you only have two colors to worry about. When those colors are black and white, the décor and the atmosphere become even more classical and chic. This apartment, in spite of being small, has an airy and discreet look. This classical and always beautiful combination of colors was used to create interesting contrasts but also to maintain a sense of simplicity.
Kelly Wearstler a interior designer-turned-designer applies the same thoughtfulness to her interiors as she does to her collections. Here we peeked inside her Beverly Hills abode, we were smitten with the sheer size of the home and the attention to detail throughout. Oh, and she’s got more Manolos than Carrie Bradshaw! Shoes oh shoes, I think there is not enough days in the year to wear them all!
Today I was pondering what it would be like if I looked for a new, bigger house instead of an apartment. What would I pay attention to? What would be a ‘must’ in my future home and what a ‘nice to have’? My view wandered through my current home and got stuck while looking at my floor. A nice, a bit worn, laminate floor. And I knew immediately: An absolute and not negotiable prerequisite is a wooden floor. And just then I decided to dedicate today’s ‘things we love’ to wooden floors!
