Architecture | Duncan Terrace

‘Our clients’ brief for this project was to add a modern ground floor extension to their Grade II listed Georgian terraced house in Duncan Terrace, Islington. More specifically, they wanted this extension to contain an extra bedroom, a kitchen and a living space which would act as a connection between the house and the garden whilst also respecting the existing Georgian Architecture.’
One half of an extension to a house in north London is surrounded by frameless glass, whilst the other half is encased in slatted timber.
The first and more solid volume takes the form of a wooden box which, like a piece of Japanese origami, envelops the bedroom and literally brings a natural element (Iroko wood) from the outside world to the inside.
The second volume, entire in glass, brings natural light into the new living space and acts as a visual link between the Georgian house, the wooden box and the garden. The high tech structural glass used for this volume, moreover, acts as a contrast to the beautifully handcrafted timber slatted detail which envelops the adjacent volume.
Is it just me? Or are you in love with this addition too? So beautiful & natural.

Colour FRIDAY | Cliff Briggie Photography

PHOTOGRAPHY

Project: Macro shots | Photographer: Cliff Briggie

Colour friday – I am making it really a splash of colour today with this selection of beautiful macro shots by Cliff Briggie combining colors, water and ice in beautiful abstract scenes. “I make photographic images by opening heart and mind to their naturally wakeful state—a vivid, raw, intimate experience—like licking honey from a razor blade and not backing away. Choice of subject is guided by what flickr colleague Brad Wise calls the hidden energies within ordinary objects. This has helped me to take myself less seriously, accept that everything changes–and eventually ends–and realize that extraordinary and ordinary both manifest from the same essential energy.” Check Cliff’s full portfolio on Flickr for more awesomeness.

Travel Thursday | Casas del Sol Villas | Thailand

When preparing to travel, lay out all your clothes and all your money.  Then take half the clothes and twice the money.  ~Susan Heller

ProjectCasas del Sol Villas | Architects:  Saenz de Santamaria Designs| Location: Koh Tao, Thailand

The “Casas del Sol” is a group is small individual villas with beautiful interior design, big outdoor spaces with private terraces and swimming pool. Besides that each villa offers an incredible view over the bay for relaxation and piece of mind. “A tropical beach villa should celebrate sea, sun and stars as well as shore-side chic. But finding the perfect beach villa in the tropics can be a difficult feat, because the dream of whispering waves and palm-shaded luxury becomes reality in only the most seldom of lucky places.”

I wish I was daydreaming, relaxing away in one of these right now…. back to reality I am off to work! Enjoy your day everyone! S. x

Two-Tone Monochrome | Mango Collection

FASHION

Things aren’t always black and white…but it does look fabulous when they are!

Monochrome is far from a new style phenomenon. The combination of black and white is constantly being reinvented and with each trend that develops, the versatility and ever-popular use of monochrome tones. It’s a look that will never date; black and white won’t go out of fashion. This is why adding some charming monochrome pieces to your wardrobe a good style investment.

So, go ahead and colour your wardrobe in black and white. Im in LOVE with this collection.

Fashion Studio | Irena Kilibarda

INTERIOR | FASHION

Project: Fashion Studio| Architects: Irena Kilibarda | Location: Belgrade, Serbia

Here are some images of a fashion store in Belgrade, Serbia, designed by architect Irena Kilibarda of Dsigned By for fashion designer Tamara Radivojevic. Fashion Store is located in the centre of Belgrade-Strahinjica Bana street, which has become a hotspot for up-and-coming fashion designers and their studios since its opening.

Much like the fashion designer’s neutral, minimalist creations, the Fashion Studio in Belgrade maintains a modern, minimalist aesthetic, which is probably due to Kilibarda’s use of concrete. The walls and floors are all made of concrete, and curved in a way so as to visually rise and meet each other.

my LOVE | Happy Anniversary <3

Before I met my husband, I’d never fallen in love. I’d stepped in it a few times. – Rita Rudner

One year ago today I married my best friend and the love of my life. WOW. Can you believe it’s been one year already?! 365 days, and I still feel like a newlywed, I still blush when my hubby says my name, and I still get butterflies when he’s about to walk in the door. I truly am the luckiest girl in the world and I count my blessings every single day.

One day a year to recognize 364 other days of putting up with me, it doesn’t seem fair. Thank you for working so hard and putting up with me.

I guess time flies when you are having fun, and it’s been a blast being your wife!

We’ve both grown together through these years. I am looking forward to maturing even more with you <3

No matter what happens I know that I can depend on you. Maybe that’s why I do so many stupid things :) . Happy Anniversary Bebo Volim te najvise!

Personally, I know that I can always use a little extra inspiration and it seems that a lot of you feel the same way. There is something so extraordinary about identifying with the wisdom of others and using it as a driving force in one’s life. Quite often, the quote that I choose for each particular week is reflective of what is going on in my life at that moment. This Quote below will tell you a little more about me.
